We continue to add to our listings a good number of dictionaries and other means of reference that
you may easily find and download from our own sites virus-free. Please,
remember that many of these are freely downloadable and freely usable documents
and executable files, and they should always remain as such, unless otherwise
specified by their respective authors.
Several downloadable reference files are in PDF or TXT format, while others are
applications in EXE format.
Some of the files are reference front-ends. This means that these are executable
reference programs that do not necessarily contain
any dictionaries/other reference items themselves, but they were constructed in order to handle particular
types of such items.
We have tried to give you some usage/download information, when needed,
about some of the interfaces up here. We have actually tested all the listed software
on a Windows XP platform. Many of the software programs will work on other
Windows platforms. There might also be versions that work with other operating systems.

Application for Windows 8.0 (3.2MB,.exe,.zip)
Ergane is a dictionary application that uses the artificial
language Esperanto to translate words and short expressions
from one language to another via the Esperanto dictionary.
This is why you must always download the Esperanto dictionary below before
you use Ergane with any other language combination.
First you need to install Ergane. Then download the dictionaries that you need below, and
place them in the directory where you installed Ergane.
When you run Ergane the first time, you will see a window with two languages listed.
You may choose the two languages that you are interested in
by going down the two menus that appear. Again, all these lagnuages are from dictionaries
that you have already downloaded and placed in the Ergane directory. Let's say
you have English in the first gadget and Dutch in the second. You then click into
the "Translation" gadget in order to work on the translation window.
In the translation window, place, e.g., the word "love" and then .
You will see the word "love" in Esperanto and Dutch.
Don't forget to download the Esperanto dictionary before you use this program.
After you place the executable file "Mdict.exe" in a directory on your computer, run it and then
choose "libraries" to load one of the ".mdx" dictionary files like the ones available for download below.
Some .ZIP files contain the file "MDict.cfg". Place such a dictionary in its own directory along with
this file. If a font (.TTF file) is included, you may place the font also in the same directory as the dictionary and
install it.

The easy-to-use one-click user interface allows a quick translation

(according to the selected mouse configuration). You can also type
the word in the QDict window or copy it using Ctrl+C. Please Note

XTerm Medical Dictionary.

XTerm Medical Dictionary is a quick reference tool that can help you any time.
Its database of medical terms is updated twice a month, so every time you
download a patch there will be new and updated/corrected terms. This medical
dictionary is freeware.
All definitions are embedded in an Windows compatible application, which has an
built-in search engine. This allows fast search with wildcard or incorrect
