This is the free downloads section of our site 1000dictionaries.com. We have been
trying to collect all kinds of dictionaries and other means of reference so that
you may find them in the same place and download them at will. Please,
remember that many of these are freely downloadable and freely usable documents
and executable files, and they should always remain as such, unless otherwise
specified by their respective authors.
Several downloadable dictionary files are in PDF or TXT format, while others are
applications in EXE format.
We have tried to give you some usage/download information, when needed,
about some of the interfaces up here. We have actually tested all the listed software
on a Windows XP platform. Many of the software programs will work on other
Windows platforms. There might also be versions that work with other operating systems.

English-Catalan-English Dictionary (1.8MB,.html,.zip)
The directory "cateng" contains the Catalan-English files. The directory "engcat" contains
the English-Catalan files. Enter the subdirectory "html" of the "cateng" directory
and hit any one of the HTML alphabet files (a.html, b.html, ...) in it. Enter the subdirectory "html/FullDictionary"
of the "engcat" directory and hit any of the alphabet files (a.html, b.html, ...) in it. Other options are also
available.

Vocabulary (200K,.pdf,.zip)
This vocabulary list comprises all the words that occur in the Hausar Baka video
segments. For items with several English translations, the vocabulary attempts to list all
the translations that the video segments call for, but with only a few exceptions, the list
does not include translations which do not come up in the videos even though there may be
other common meanings for those words.

Dictionary Application (13MB,.exe,.zip)
This great free interface "understands" 4 types of dictionary types. We concentrate on the
so-called "sdictionaries".
To use Jalingo, do the following:
(1) When the program loads for the first time, click the "Manage my dictionaries" tag.
(2) Click the green "+" sign in the upper left corner.
(3) Click twice "Sdictionary" on the left column.
(4) Direct the directory requester to the directory where you keep your downloaded dictionaries
from the listing below, and click into the dictionary that you want to work with.
(5) Hit "Open".
(5) Hit "Continue" to come to "Parsing ...", "Sorting ...".
(6) Hit "Close" to come to "Building Merged index...".
(7) Hit any item on the left to see the translation/meaning on the right.
(8) You may REMOVE the existing dictionary from your Jalingo listing by hitting the "-" sign button on the
right of the green "+" sign in the upper left corner, and then proceed as in steps (1)-(7).
(9) You should REMOVE the existing dictionary, as in (8), before you load another one.

in the near future. Remember, these "sdictionaries" have the ending "dct".

This dictionary interface comes with a built-in English-German-English dictionary.
You can load many other dictionaries by first choosing the menu item "Manage Dictionaries",
then selecting the desirable dictionary from the listing that shows up, and then clicking "Install"
at the lower right corner. Here is a listing of the dictionaries that you may load with the current version 2.5.1:

Pocket Dictionary
This is a freeware PocketPC dictionary which runs on Windows Mobile 2003,
Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 compatible PDAs.
It contains 18 dictionaries with more than 2,000,000 words. The dictionary is
very fast and needs only 1MB free RAM memory to run.
Copy the contents of this ZIP file on your PocketPC device. You can delete
unwanted dictionaries from the "Dictionaries" directory.
